New LitePoint Bluetooth® Software Package
Now Supports Broadcom® Bluetooth ICs
SUNNYVALE, CA ― August 23, 2005 ― LitePoint Corporation, an industry leading provider of advanced wireless test solutions, announced the availability of manufacturing test program support for Bluetooth ICs from Broadcom Corporation [NASDAQ: BRCM] using the LitePoint Bluetooth® Software Package. The test programs are available for no cost to valid licensees of the LitePoint Bluetooth Software Package and Broadcom.
The LitePoint Bluetooth Software Package supports the latest Bluetooth version 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) wireless standard. This software package runs on the installed base of LitePoint IQview® and IQflex™ test platforms enabling very fast production test times for low manufacturing test cost. The Bluetooth Software Package integrates seamlessly into existing LitePoint IQview and IQflex test software adding Bluetooth transmit and receiver test capability for both R&D and manufacturing applications. IQview and IQflex software also supports 802.11a/b/g/n and turbo mode WiFi wireless local area network testing needs and is today ready to support next generation MiMo products.
"We are very excited to work with Broadcom to support its family of Bluetooth Wireless Audio Processor ICs," said Greg Ravenscroft, President of Advanced Development for LitePoint. "Delivering the fastest production test times and lowest manufacturing test cost while serving the large installed base of IQview and IQflex increases our OEM/ODMs customer satisfaction, while at the same time reducing the IC manufacturer’s direct customer support cost."
LitePoint Bluetooth Software Package test programs are now available for the Broadcom® ZV4301 and BCM2037 stereo Bluetooth silicon products. The ZV4301 Bluetooth wireless audio processor enables a low-cost, low-power stereo headset solution by eliminating the need for external circuitry such as programmable DSPs commonly used for audio compression. The BCM2037 supports the latest Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR standard and enables low-cost, low-power stereo audio solutions making it ideal for stereo headsets, plug-and-play USB adapters, and analog line-in adapters.
"Our new BCM2037 EDR-capable Bluetooth stereo headset IC has extended our leadership position in the stereo headset market," said Scott Bibaud, Senior Director of Marketing for Broadcom's Bluetooth products. "LitePoint's wireless test instruments, with support for the latest Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR standard, have enabled our customers to quickly move into volume production with our latest Bluetooth products in a cost-effective manner."
Industry estimates of Bluetooth shipments indicate growth from 64M (2003) to 140M (2004) to 250M (2005) units world wide.
