Introducing IQgig for 802.11ad
LitePoint introduces mmWave test systems to the expansive portfolio of wireless test solutions. The IQgig family is a high-performance physical-layer test solution, optimized for 802.11ad (WiGig) device testing. IQgig-RF is a high quality, robust test system in the 60 GHz band, with highly integrated compact test heads that enable efficient Over-the-Air testing in R&D labs and on the manufacturing floors. IQgig-IF provides the same comprehensive WiGig measurements in the IF frequency range. Together, LitePoint delivers complementary test solutions to simplify WiGig testing.

z475 Remote Power Supply
LitePoint’s new z475 DC power supply provides a stable VCC for RF component testing (PA/FEM/Switch) within a cabled test setup without the use of capacitors or trackers on the load board. The z475’s small footprint and remote interface permit mounting close to the DUT and prevent transient response issues associated with power supply leads and cabling. For pulsed voltage and current applications, the z475 minimizes settling time and voltage droop. The z475 also can measure operating current, quiescent current and capture current and/or voltage waveforms. The z475 interfaces with z8820 (PXIe DC Power & Digital IO Controller) for operation and control. A specialized interface GUI: zDIO is available, as well as additional drivers for C/C++, LabVIEW, Matlab, TCL and Python.

The Wi-Fi evolution rolls on and 802.11ax continues its march to market. Product development is starting to ramp up, and we have been packing loads of new features in the IQxel-MW as we work with early developers. Exciting changes are coming to Wi-Fi over the next couple of years.

Product Updates for IoT
Here are a couple product updates for the diverse requirements for wireless-enabled “things”:
LTE for IoT
With the 3GPP Release 13 approval last year, device makers are hard at work bringing new LTE technology to the Internet of Things. We now have LTE IoT support for all flavors of cellular IoT devices: Cat-1, Cat-0, Cat-M1, Cat-NB1 (NB-IoT).

Rolling out now, Bluetooth has recently made some enhancements included in the Bluetooth 5 specification. Notably, there is now a “long range” mode that enables 4x range and a “high speed” mode that enables 2x faster speed compared to Bluetooth Low Energy. Bluetooth 5 is now supported on all IQxel family of testers.
